The Macon County Health Department announces three new cases of COVID-19 in the county. One is related to a job outside of the county and two are community spread.
COVID-19 affects all ages and genders. In the last eight cases announced in Macon County, there has been one female under 19, one male 20-29, one male 50-59, three females 60-69, one male 60-69 and one male 70-79.
At the time of this press release, the total cases in Macon County are –
- 76 positive cases
- 12 active positive cases
- 0 hospitalized
- 64 released from isolation
The state of Missouri currently reports 68,623 cases of COVID-19.
Symptoms of COVID-19 can range from mild to severe and can vary person to person. Symptoms include fever, cough, congestion, runny nose, muscle aches, unexplained headache or fatigue, new loss of taste or smell, abnormal shortness of breath and/or nausea/vomiting and diarrhea. If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or think you have been exposed, please self-quarantine and contact your healthcare provider by phone.
With cases increasing and school starting, the Macon County Health Department urges everyone to take preventative measures to help prevent the spread of COVID in our county and our state. It is important to practice good hand hygiene, avoid touching your face and practice good cleaning techniques, especially of frequently touched surfaces. Practicing social distancing (6 feet apart) between yourself and those not in your household can prevent the transfer of respiratory droplets. Wearing a mask that covers the mouth and nose, especially in areas where social distancing cannot be maintained, can help prevent the transfer of COVID-19.
